Week 3: Give Me Jesus

The quote “Make it simple but significant” comes to mind when thinking of our version of the song Give Me Jesus. The sweet tune along with the simple lyrics of this traditional African American spiritual holds one of the most significant truths of all time - Jesus is worth more than anything this world has to offer. As hard as we try to find ‘things’ of this world to make us happy or fix circumstances nothing can replace the true joy that comes from knowing the Savior of the world.

The saying “Happiness depends on happenings, but joy depends on Christ” is so very true, and our prayer is that you, reader, have come, or will come, to know the difference between the two .

“JOY is not necessarily the absence of suffering, it is the PRESENCE of God.” Sam Storms

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13

Give Me Jesus

In the morning, when I rise

In the morning, when I rise

In the morning, when I rise

Give me Jesus

Give me Jesus

Give me Jesus

You can have all this world

Give me Jesus

Dark midnight was my cry

Dark midnight was my cry

Dark midnight was my cry

Give me Jesus

Give me Jesus

Give me Jesus

You can have all this world

Give me Jesus

Oh when I come to die

Oh when I come to die

Oh, when I come to die

Give me Jesus

Give me Jesus

Give me Jesus

You can have all this world

Just give me Jesus
